n 1899, Buffalo Soldiers of Company L received orders to go to Alaska and help keep law and order in the now designated

Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park- Skagway, Alaska

at the end of the gold rush. They responded to gunshots, escorted angry deserters back to their ship, provided overnight fire patrols to ensure the town was safe and were instrumental in preventing major damage during the Skagway River flood. #BlackHistoryMonth
